With the era of new technologies and various modern software which make the life of people easier, it seems that profession of translator will not be in demand any more. Just because so many attempts have been made in order to computerize the translation. In other words, to make this process automate. But still, such programs can't substitute a human being and are used only as an aid to translation. So, do these programs are not so perfect or there is the other reason?

First of all, it should be noted that the above mentioned machine translation is appropriate for translation of technical specifications (strings of technical terms and adjectives). Just because in this case it is enough to use only dictionary-based machine-translation system for good quality translation. There are also various types of texts with limited ranges of vocabulary and simple sentence structure, which can be translated with such programs. But the same can't be said about other types of texts and especially about literary works.

It should be noted that if the translation of non-literary works is regarded as a skill, the translation of literary works is like an art. Don't you note that you adore one book of the author and can't stand his other work? As a rule, everything depends on the translator. His skills, understanding of the author and, probably, adding something new to this book. Yes, new just in order to make it more interesting for the readers of his country.
